The Gold Coast’s signature festival for everything nostalgic returns this June with more classic cars, live music, parades, pageants, and markets, and it’s not to be missed for those with a penchant for the old-school!
Cooly Rocks On is all set to take over Coolangatta for another 5 days of non-stop vintage, retro, and rock and roll. This unique festival is the ultimate celebration of the ‘40s, ‘50s, and ‘60s, and this year will be celebrating the ‘70s for the first time ever! One of the highlights of Cooly Rocks On is its spectacular display of classic and vintage cars, featuring everything from souped-up hot rods to old-school camper vans. Show 'n' Shine takes over the streets of Coolangatta with over 1,000 cars each year, which car fanatics can get up close with and take pics! Another highlight is the popular Miss Cooly Rocks On pageant, which sees hundreds of women put on their best ’40s, ‘50s, or ‘60s getup in hopes to take home the crown. It’s a pageant unlike any other, offering a unique rockabilly and vintage theme!
Cooly Rocks On also hosts a must-see street parade, which sees the whole of Coolangatta’s Marine Parade come alive with floats, vintage cars, markets, live music, and an incredible atmosphere! More that’s not to be missed at Cooly Rocks On this year include the Vintage Picnic, Long Board Surfing Competition, and the Billycart Grand Prix.
If you grew up in the eras between the ‘40s and ‘70s this is an unmissable event this winter, and the perfect dose of old-fashioned nostalgic fun! Slick your hair back and dig out your old rockabilly outfit for Cooly Rocks On 2018, taking place in Coolangatta from June 6 to June 10.
