Eco-Explorers

Eco-Explorers comes to Currumbin this April with an exciting school holiday program for kids aged five to nine! This short series of interactive two-hour morning workshops by GeckoEd will immerse the little ones in nature with a fun morning of hands-on activities, games, craft and stories.

On April 8, Plants That Talk will begin the program with a nature-walk involving all things plant-based. Kids will learn about several different plants in Currumbin as well as how to identify them by the shape and colour of their leaves.

On April 10, kids can enjoy an interactive session with colourful butterflies! Beautiful Butterflies will invite kids to spot as many butterflies as they can, as well as learn about which plants the butterflies like to lay their eggs on.

On April 15, Lively Lizards is the chance for kids to learn about the various lizards living in Currumbin. Kids will be counting how many they can find, as well as enjoying a talk on their habitats and way of life.

On April 17, the kids will go on an adventure around the creeks in Currumbin in the Eco-Explorers Mystery Program, conducting water tests and learning about the mysterious and fascinating creatures that make their home in the water.

NaturallyGC

City of Gold Coast’s 2019 environmental program, NaturallyGC, encourages parents to bring their kids along for a number of one-hour workshops and activities in various locations up and down the Gold Coast.

There are plenty of events to choose from within the program, which offers everything from friendly animal encounters to tree-planting, creative arts and crafts, and more – each providing fantastic insights into nature while teaching the importance of the environment. Kids of all ages will get the exciting opportunity to visit some of the Gold Coast’s more tropical areas, where they will get hands-on with different activities, learn about tropical heritage and culture, and discover how fun it is to explore the outdoors.

It’s a fantastic, highly educational program for kids that’s not to be missed over the school holiday!

On April 6 in Mudgeeraba, Decades of Experience will offer kids aged five and over a fun session of arts and crafts, stories, fire-making and woomera spear-throwing. This hands-on workshop will teach kids the fascinating culture of Australia’s Indigenous people, providing lots of new skills for them to take home and remember.

On April 6 in Burleigh Heads, Creatures of the Dark will take kids aged eight and over on an immersive evening walk with WildCall. This nighttime adventure will have them spotting some of the Gold Coast’s nocturnal creatures with lots to see and marvel at up close.

On April 13 in Burleigh Heads, Wildlife Encounters will allow kids to get up close with some of Australia’s iconic animals. This one-hour show will involve turtles, lizards, crocodiles, snakes and lots more, and it’s guaranteed to be a fun and educational experience for all ages.

On April 14, Rocky Shore Explore will take kids over age five to Burleigh’s rocky shores to learn about what lives in the rock pools. They’ll get to see periwinkles, sea cucumbers, oysters, and plenty of scuttling crabs.

On April 27 in Tallebudgera’s Schuster Park, Koala Tree Planting will have the kids planting their own tree for koalas living in Tallebudgera. It’s a memorable experience where they’ll learn about koalas and at the same time do their part for their conservation.
