Gold Coast Film Festival

Being the epicentre for feature film production in the country with more than 75 percent of all Queensland production taking place here, the Gold Coast has become home to one of the most exciting film festivals in the world—The Gold Coast Film Festival (GCFF).

Featuring a 10-day festival, the GCFF offers audiences a programme of films and events that are culturally diverse, interactive and engaging. This festival happens across different Gold Coast locations and also encourages, promotes and helps Australian film makers with a strong focus on public interactivity all year long.

To be held on the 9 to 19 April at The Arts Centre Gold Coast, the Gold Coast Film Festival will feature internationally acclaimed dramas, comedies and genre films, excellent Japanese anime, and locally made indie films and family features. This festival certainly provides a culturally diverse, interactive and engaging program of film, events and special guests.

Inspired by the Brussels International Festival of Fantasy Film, The Gold Coast Film Festival exhibits the many genres of fantasy film, such as sci-fi, horror, special effects, animation, anime and children’s fantasy, along with sidebar events.

Last year, The Gold Coast Film Festival showed 40 feature films such as three world premieres, 15 Australian premieres and four Queensland premiers. The festival also featured a horror movie marathon which happened until midnight. The festival was also graced by special guests including John Jarratt, Temuera Morrison, Ian Collie, David Gould and various other professionals in the film industry.

This year, expect a more exciting and interesting festival and celebrate the brilliance of local and international filmmakers all gathering on the Gold Coast.

Mark your calendars now and enjoy this exciting festival on the Gold Coast.
