We look forward to welcoming you back - we are COVID-19 Safe!

There are two ways to remember Anzac Day on April 25. In different parts of Australia, memorial services are held at dawn, the hour of the initial landing in Gallipoli. Ex-servicemen and women gather later to participate in marches across the major cities and several smaller towns.

Spend some leisure time learning about the past and showing respect for it with your family. You can book a stay at Isle of Palms for easy access to the Anzac Daya activities in the region. The Currumbin Beach accommodation provides complete serenity just 3 kilometres from Palm Beach, Currumbin Beach, and Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast. Just outside Isle of Palms is the Pines Shopping Center and nearby bus routes. Also, driving to the Gold Coast Airport takes at least 15 minutes.

Anzac Day in Burleigh Heads

The ANZAC troops arrived in Gallipoli at first light on April 25, 1915, beginning a legacy that would last long. The Dawn Ceremony, a sombre service steeped in protocol and custom, takes place at Burleigh Heads’ Cenotaph Memorial Park from 4:15 to 5:30 in the morning. The ceremony includes laying wreaths, playing the Last Post, and observing a minute of silence.

Join the RSL Burleigh Head Sub Branch for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service in Burleigh in 2023. From 9:15 am to 11 am, you can also attend the ANZAC Day ceremony in Memorial Park Burleigh Heads.

Anzac Day in Currumbin

Aside from Burleigh Heads, Currumbin is also hosting several Anzac Day events. The Throwers Bridge in Currumbin and Elephant Rock at Currumbin Beach will light up from April 17 to 25 after receiving excellent feedback from the neighbourhood in prior years. You can then take part in the Walk4Remembrance on April 23.

The Walk4Remembrance is back this year with plenty of opportunities for the community to unite after two successful years. You can contribute to the awareness-building effort for those veterans who perished in the internal conflict. Break the taboo surrounding mental illness and help finance initiatives benefiting veterans by speaking out.

This year’s 8-kilometre walk will start at the Currumbin RSL Reserve beside the stream and end at the Tugun Surf Life Saving Club. Also, all cash raised will be sent to the Veteran Support Centre so that it can continue to offer veterans high-quality assistance and services.

On April 25, the Currumbin RSL will hold a dawn service at Elephant Rock on Currumbin Beach. Come there early; the march will start at 4:35 am, followed by the dawn service at 5 am. Currumbin RSL and The Pines Shopping Center will provide a park-and-ride service. You can walk to Elephant Rock from either pickup site after arriving at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Then, at the club’s cenotaph, Currumbin RSL will conduct a mid-morning service at 10:55 am. There is no need to register, but if you plan to march, get there early because the March Assembly starts at 10:35 am at Winders Park on Duringan Street. The parade begins at 10:55 am, and the cenotaph service will follow.

Make travel arrangements and reserve a room at Isle of Palms Resort. With 2, 3, or 4 bedrooms and open-plan living areas with full kitchens, and the option of either a private garden or beachfront deck on the edge of the dazzling lake, any of their two-story townhouses are perfect for families and large parties.
