We look forward to welcoming you back - we are COVID-19 Safe!

This August, the Gold Coast Show will be back! Prepare for an exciting weekend as the annual three-day event draws over 120,000 visitors. Be one of them and celebrate 115 years while enjoying the various city and rural competitions, demonstrations, displays, free live music, a carnival-like atmosphere, rides, and our famous fireworks.

The Gold Coast Show

The Gold Coast Show has a strong history dating to the turn of the 20th century. The community-driven event celebrated its Centenary in 2006, and Fiona Staun wrote a book titled “100 Shows – History of the Gold Coast Show” to commemorate the occasion.

The Show, formerly known as The Southport Show, first occurred in Southport’s Recreation Reserve, now Woodroffe Park. It included displays of food, including fruits, vegetables, flowers, and goods made nearby to cater to the numerous visitors. Until it outgrew the space and moved to Owen Park in 1919, the Show continued to take place here, expanding its scope to include live livestock exhibitions and an equestrian competition. But as the years went by, there were even more changes.

The Gold Coast Show outgrew its previous location again in 1989 and relocated to Parklands facilities. The Gold Coast Show resettled to the Gold Coast Turf Club on Bundall’s Racecourse Drive in 2014. The Show decided to hold the event at Broadwater Parklands in 2018. The event, a first for the Show, featured free admission and the reintroduction of the equestrian competition, which had been unable to take place at the GCTC venue for the previous four years.

The Event Lineup

Take note that the 2022 Gold Coast Show is still in Broadwater Parklands from August 26 to 28. There will be a variety of exhibitors and stall owners. Visit them and check their offerings.

The Gold Coast Show also features a variety of contests in the arts, equestrian, homemaking, show dogs, and woodworking categories. Also, the Arts category features favourites like photography, painting, indigenous art, drawing, glass craft, ceramics, pottery, and sculpture. If these sparked some interest, take advantage of the Classes for Youth Arts, which include fascinating courses in graphic design, mixed media, and short films.

In addition to this, attendees of the 2022 Show will enjoy a fantastic selection of entertainment. Humphrey B Bear and roving entertainment will be available. Meeting the tall, friendly brown bear who adores honey will delight your children. So be on the lookout for him!

James Blundell will also play at the Official Opening, and at 2 p.m. on Friday, he will be at the Woodchop Bar powered by Waterfox Plumbing (Farmland). Bands, musicians, and performers will fill the Triple M Loud and Live stage.
