We look forward to welcoming you back - we are COVID-19 Safe!

The largest outdoor sculpture exhibition in Queensland is returning to Currumbin Beach in September 2022.

The 20th annual SWELL Sculpture Festival honours people, art, and place. It started when Natasha Edwards and Kylie Mitchell-Smith discussed the idea of developing a unique artistic experience for everyone. In September 2003, 6,000 people attended the inaugural SWELL Sculpture Festival and enjoyed the 23 works on display.

Fast forward to 2022, the festival will feature over 50 sculptures by Australian and international artists along Currumbin Beach from September 9 to 18. Also, several sculptures part of the free exhibition, accessible at all times, come alive when illuminated by the southern sky.

Additionally, visitors can connect with the sculptures, participate in artist master classes and kid-friendly workshops, browse around the SWELL Smalls Gallery and enjoy twilight walks and educational artist talks to gain fresh insights.

Swell 2022 | Guided Sculpture Walk

Yes, why not participate in a guided tour? Led by guest curators who are passionate about art, you will learn more about the creation and the maker. Take part in imaginative discussions and savour the SWELL experience.

Daily guided sculpture walks are in two sessions at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekends. The meeting is at The Northern SWELL Information Hub at Currumbin Alley Car Park. Children under 16 can attend FREE. Adult tickets cost $15 plus booking fees and include a printed program.

Also, these tours involve walking on sand. Please email enquiry@swellsculpture.com.au if you have any questions about accessibility or want to schedule a private SWELL Sculpture Tour.

SWELL Pop-up exhibits

In addition, experience pop-up exhibits throughout the Gold Coast. SWELL launches its pop-up exhibitions, westerlySWELL and northerlySWELL, at the start of September, enlivening public areas and locations for everyone to enjoy. EasterlySWELL and SWELL Fringe Festival are launched by SWELL in the middle of September, showing artistic vitality through sculptural works to go along with the flagship exhibition along Currumbin Beach.
