Festival 2018 Gold Coast
In addition to the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Festival 2018 Gold Coast will be hosting FREE citywide entertainment for locals and tourists. The program will feature a variety of live music, theatre and circus, dance performances, and visual art exhibits stretching from Helensvale down to the Southern Gold Coast; and it’s not to be missed! Head to Surf Parade in Broadbeach for the Queensland Music Stage, featuring big performances from Kate Miller-Heidke, Amy Shark, and more. Don’t miss the ‘Giant Sing Along’ in Surfers Paradise, as well as a lineup of performances from The Cat Empire and others. NightQuarter in Helensvale will also host a fantastic celebration throughout Festival 2018 Gold Coast, offering unmissable entertainment in the form of Zoe L’Amore, 42 Band, Bullhorn, Ablazing Grace, Deja Voodoo, Matty Rogers, The Space Cowboy, and lots more. In Currumbin, catch a moonlit performance on the Currumbin Estuary with ‘Quiet by Nature’, as well as a special performance from Fiji dance group ‘VOU’. Festival 2018 Gold Coast takes place from the 4th of April to the 15th of April.
2018 Gold Coast Film Festival
April sees the return of the Gold Coast Film Festival, celebrating its 16th annual event. The Gold Coast Film Festival is the Gold Coast’s main celebratory event for film in the region, featuring an unmissable program of outdoor movie showings, famous movie location tours, movie trivia events, and more. The Gold Coast itself has made a fantastic contribution to film in the last 30 years, providing the film locations of several huge blockbusters and Australian classics. Movies such as Thor: Ragnarok, Kong: Skull Island, San Andreas, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more have used the scenic Gold Coast as filming locations. At the 2018 Gold Coast Film Festival you can embark on an exclusive tour of these famous locations, offering an experience that’s not to be ignored for filmmakers and movie lovers. You can also enjoy outdoor movie showings taking place in Giltrap Park, Kirra and on Surfers Paradise Beach. Celebrate women in film with the Women in Film Lunch, and test your knowledge of film at the Music and Movie Trivia. The 2018 Gold Coast Film Festival will take place over 11 days from the 17th of April to the 29th of April – don’t miss the Gold Coast’s flagship event for celebrating film.
